The CASIE Center is committed to implementing and sustaining community-wide programming to end child abuse in St. Joseph County.
Safety Matters
Beginning in Spring 2023, CASIE Center staff added to our prevention efforts by supporting Erin’s Law, which mandates that every child in Indiana (K-12) receives child abuse prevention education.
Working closely with Dunebrook in LaPorte County and CAPS in Elkhart County, The CASIE Center has developed a county-wide child abuse prevention program committed to empowering children to identify and report all types of child abuse.
Truancy Prevention
Program supports kindergarten through 5th grade students in St. Joseph County who are experiencing excessive unexcused absences.
Case Managers work closely with families and schools to identify the challenges affecting attendance and connect families with helpful community resources. The goal is to help families build positive routines and develop lasting habits that lead to better attendance and long-term success in school.

Here Today, Ready for Tommorow
In the Fall of 2025, we launched an ongoing initiative called the "Here Today, Ready for Tomorrow” campaign, which was an effort to educate our community about the importance of school attendance. In Indiana, the goal is for every student to be in school 94% of the time. A student who misses 11 days every year misses nearly a whole year of school by the end of 12th grade. Through the campaign we aim to secure a positive future for us all.

Located in north central Indiana, South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC) is the largest school system in St. Joseph County, and the 10th largest in the state of Indiana. Established in 1867, we are home to over 13,580 students and employ over 2,408 people.
Mishawaka serve approximately 5,000 students in preschool, kindergarten through high school, and our Young Adults Program throughout our nine schools. We are located in northcentral Indiana in the heart of Mishawaka.
